ICS got research funds from the BRIN institute in 2022 to do a field research project on “identity politics and the shift of Jamaah Tabligh’s proselytization movement in Indonesia” in provinces such as NTB, Jakarta, East Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, and East Java. This project was carried out by 8 students under the MBKM research scheme. Dr. Saipul Hamdi, as Director of ICS, immediately provided intense training beginning with producing articles and research reports that would subsequently become students’ theses.
Training takes place two to three times per week. Students bring a laptop and begin writing right away. This training pattern is extremely helpful for developing and sharpening pupils’ writing abilities. Their problem thus far stems from the fact that they have never been directly directed in practice, merely theoretical learning.
Students were ecstatic to be a part of the training program and to have the opportunity to share their ideas and writing talents. Dr. Saipul Hamdi teaches many methods and approaches to help students accomplish their studies, such as writing articles first, then transforming them into a thesis. Field research is unquestionably the foundation of article writing. When students succeed in writing articles successfully, they are naturally prepared to write a thesis, which only has to be developed.
